Many women have irregular menstrual cycles which may be due to a temporary condition or situation or, conversely, to a more serious condition or disease. And one of the most common menstrual disorders are brief periods lasting less than 21 days and at such irregularity, it is normal to ask the question of why is my period early. STDs like gonorrhoea or Chlamydia are other causes of early periods. That is why it is so important for periodical gynaecological check-ups and to use protection, such as condoms when having sex.
